Government of Maharashtra has published the draft Maharashtra Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Factories and Other Ports) Rules, 2026 and invited objections and suggestions within 45 days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
The draft rules apply to factories and other ports. The rules prescribe provisions relating to establishment registration and registration fees, commencement and closure intimation, annual medical examination of workers above 40 years of age, issuance of appointment letters, reporting of accidents, dangerous occurrences and occupational diseases, constitution of the State Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Board, constitution of Safety Committees, appointment and qualifications of Safety Officers, working hours, weekly holidays and overtime wages. Employers, occupiers, managers and employees covered under the Code are subject to the provisions specified in the draft rules.
