Employees’ State Insurance Corporation has notified the draft Employees’ State Insurance (General) Regulations, 2026 under the Code on Social Security, 2020. The draft regulations are proposed in supersession of the Employees’ State Insurance (General) Regulations, 1950, except in respect of things done or omitted to be done before such supersession. The draft has been published for information of persons likely to be affected and objections or suggestions are invited within 45 days from the date on which copies of the Official Gazette are made available to the public.
The draft Employees’ State Insurance (General) Regulations, 2026 provide regulations relating to the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation under the Code on Social Security, 2020. The draft regulations extend to the whole of India and contain provisions covering definitions, contribution and benefit periods, Corporation and committee proceedings, regional boards and local committees, employee declarations, insured person cards, contribution statements and payments, appeals, interest and damages for delayed payments, employee registers and other matters. The draft also provides for monthly contribution statements, contribution payment timelines, interest on delayed contributions, damages for delayed payments and maintenance of employee registers.
Objections and suggestions may be submitted to the Insurance Commissioner, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, in the prescribed proforma specifying the name and address of the person or organisation, the relevant chapter and regulation or sub-regulation, the proposed revised regulation or sub-regulation, and the reasons for the proposed change.
