Notification of Revised Telecommunication Equipment Standard: TEC 67010:2026 (VRLA Batteries)

The Ministry of Communications (Department of Telecommunications, Telecommunication Engineering Centre) has issued this notification in exercise of powers under section 19 of the Telecommunications Act, 2023 read with rule 5 of the Telecommunications (Framework to Notify Standards, Conformity Assessment and Certification) Rules, 2025.

One revised standard for telecommunication equipment has been notified. The revised standard TEC 67010:2026 covers Generic Requirements for Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) Batteries. This is a revision of a previously existing standard. The revised standard is effective from the date of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette. Entities involved in the manufacture, supply, or use of VRLA batteries used as telecommunication equipment are within the scope of this revised standard.

“S.O. 4361(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Telecommunications Act, 2023 (44 of 2023) read with rule 5 of the Telecommunications (Framework to Notify Standards, Conformity Assessment and Certification) Rules, 2025, the Central Government hereby notifies the following revised standard for telecommunication equipment with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, namely:—
