The Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has published the draft Delhi Legal Metrology (Government Approved Test Centre) Rules, 2026 for information of persons likely to be affected. The draft is proposed to be made by the Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009. The draft will be considered after expiry of ten days from publication in the Official Gazette of Delhi and in two Hindi and two English national daily newspapers. Objections or suggestions may be submitted to the Controller, Legal Metrology Department, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

The draft rules provide for verification of specified weights and measures by Government Approved Test Centres or laboratories of the Department. They prescribe provisions relating to approval, renewal, duties, qualifications, verification fees, certificates, inspection, suspension, revocation, expenditure, risk categorisation, compounding of offences and repeal and savings. The draft also specifies categories of entities eligible to function as Government Approved Test Centres, application requirements, an approval fee of Rs. 2,50,000 per weight or measure per year, and verification fees for specified weights and measures. The draft identifies High Risk, Medium Risk and Low Risk categories and provides for verification and stamping arrangements according to the specified risk categories.
