  • the 67 scheduled employments listed at serial numbers 1 to 36, 39 to 55, and 57 to 66 and 68 to 72 under Schedule-A, Part-B;

The base minimum wage rates (as revised with effect from April 1, 2024 vide notification dated March 4, 2024, referenced to CPI base index 311, average January–June 2019, 2001=100) are combined with the revised VDA to arrive at the total wage payable, computed on a 26-day month basis, for the period April 1, 2026 to September 30, 2026.

  1. General Conditions Applicable to the Revised Rates
  • Daily wage rates for the 67 scheduled employments (Schedule-A, Part-B), slate pencil manufacturing, printing press employment, and the three new scheduled employments under Section-A are computed on a 26-day month basis; rates for agricultural employment and for daily-wage workers and employees in Government Departments are computed on a 30-day month basis.
  • As per the unanimous resolution of the Madhya Pradesh Minimum Wages Advisory Council at its meeting dated June 20, 2006, wage determination rounds off both the rupee and paise components of the computed rate to arrive at the applicable rounded daily rate.
  • As per Finance Department Circular No. F 9-79-7/2006/Rule/Four dated September 20, 2006, a fractional amount of 50 paise or more is rounded up to the next higher rupee, and an amount of less than 50 paise is dropped, in arriving at the rounded daily rate.
  • The variable dearness allowance is revised periodically with reference to movements in the applicable Consumer Price Index — the All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (Base 2001=100) for most scheduled employments, a separate agricultural-worker Consumer Price Index for agricultural employment, and a Consumer Price Index on Base 1960=100 for beedi-rolling employment.

Penalty and Consequences

Under Section 22 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, an employer who pays an employee less than the minimum rate of wages fixed for that employee’s class of work, or who contravenes any rule or order made under Section 13 of the Act, is punishable with imprisonment for a term extending up to six months, or with fine extending up to ₹500, or with both.

Under Section 22A of the Act, any employer who contravenes any other provision of the Act or of any rule or order made thereunder, for which no specific penalty is otherwise provided, is punishable with a fine extending up to ₹500.
