Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued Notification No. F. No. SS-T0T1(NOTI)/1/2025-Standard-FSSAI dated May 21, 2026. A draft of the amendment regulations was published on December 21, 2022 and made available to the public on December 23, 2022. Objections and suggestions received from the public were considered by FSSAI. The principal regulations were published on June 10, 2022. These regulations are called the Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Amendment Regulations, 2026 and shall come into force on July 1, 2027.
In the Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Regulations, 2022, in regulation 4, sub-regulation (2) is substituted by the following:
“(2) Every package of vegan foods, after the approval, shall carry the logo as specified below:
[VEGAN Logo — a green checkmark with leaf motif above the word VEGAN on a green-bordered square background]
