Schedule VII of Regulation 84(4) of the Central Electricity Authority (Technical Standards for Construction of Electrical Plants and Electric Lines) Regulations, 2022 prescribes Right-of-Way (RoW) requirements for transmission lines. The Central Electricity Authority subsequently examined technological options for reduction of RoW requirements, including lattice towers with High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductors and pole structures with ACSR/HTLS conductors. The revised RoW requirements were incorporated in Schedule VII through the Central Electricity Authority (Technical Standards for Construction of Electrical Plants and Electric Lines) Amendment Regulations, 2025. The CEA issued the advisory dated July 30, 2026 to Transmission Utilities regarding adoption of the revised RoW requirements while planning and executing transmission line projects in forest areas.

The advisory requests concerned stakeholders to take necessary steps for adoption and compliance with the revised Right-of-Way requirements for applicable transmission line configurations prescribed under Schedule VII of the Central Electricity Authority (Technical Standards for Construction of Electrical Plants and Electric Lines) Amendment Regulations, 2025, while planning and executing transmission line projects in forest areas. The revised Schedule VII provides RoW requirements for different combinations of conductor types and structural configurations, including ACSR conductors on lattice and pole structures and HTLS conductors on pole and lattice structures. The advisory applies to Transmission Utilities and other concerned stakeholders involved in planning and execution of transmission line projects in forest areas.
