The Central Government, Ministry of Communications (Department of Telecommunications), Telecommunication Engineering Centre, has issued a notification under section 19 of the Telecommunications Act, 2023 read with rule 5 of the Telecommunications (Framework to Notify Standards, Conformity Assessment and Certification) Rules, 2025, notifying revised standards for telecommunication equipment.
The notified revised standards are: TEC 58111:2026 – Test Guide for Fraud Management and Control Centre (FMCC); TEC 61020:2025 – Generic Requirements for Monitoring Equipment for Lawful Interception of PSTN/NGN/IMS; TEC 85030:2026 – Generic Requirements for Metal free Ribbon Optical Fibre Cable with Nylon Outer Sheath for underground duct application; and TEC 85140:2026 – Generic Requirements for Metal Free Optical Fibre Cable with Nylon Outer Sheath for underground duct application (Type-I and Type-II).
These revised standards apply to the specified categories of telecommunication equipment and take effect from the date of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette. Stakeholders engaged in the manufacture, supply, or deployment of such equipment are expected to align with the notified standards under the framework for standards, conformity assessment and certification.
The notification does not specify any compliance transition period, detailed conformity assessment procedures, or exemptions beyond stating the effective date.
