The Directorate General of Employment & Training, Ministry of Labour, issued a clarification regarding the status of the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) vis-à-vis the National Trade Certificate (NTC) awarded upon successful completion of ITI training.
The clarification states that, as per Government of India guidelines issued vide letter No. DGET-54(1)/71-AP dated July 19, 1971, the National Apprenticeship Certificate is a higher grade than the National Trade Certificate. It further states that employers, while fixing minimum qualifications and experience, may give weightage to the number of years of experience equal to the period of apprenticeship training undergone after completion of ITI training.
It is further clarified that an NAC awarded for a particular trade is recognised as of a higher grade than the NTC awarded for the same particular trade. For example, an NAC awarded for the Fitter trade is of a higher grade than an NTC awarded for the Fitter trade.
