The Delhi Fire Service (Amendment) Rules, 2026 amend the Delhi Fire Service Rules, 2010. The amendments revise the numbering of specified provisions under Rule 2 and remove references to the “National Building Code of India” in specified provisions, replacing it with “Building Bye-Laws” in Rule 29.
Rule 33 is substituted to prescribe minimum fire prevention and fire safety standards with reference to building height and occupancy classification, covering access for fire engines, fire and smoke protection, fire extinguishers, hose reels, fire detection and alarm systems, hydrants, sprinkler systems, firefighting water storage, emergency power, fire towers and lifts, fire control rooms, refuge areas and special fire protection systems.
Form J under the Seventh Schedule is also substituted as the inspection report to be used by Fire Safety Auditors under Rule 35. The revised form records building details, inspection particulars and site status against the minimum fire prevention and fire safety standards under Rule 33.
All applications pending on the date of commencement will be processed under the provisions in force on the date of application.
