Establishment of 11 New Indian Standards Including Revisions to Battery and Cable Specifications

Applicable Section/Rule: Rule 15, Sub-rule (1)

In pursuance of Sub-rule (1) of Rule 15 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018, the Bureau of Indian Standards notifies that the Indian Standards listed in the second column of the annexed Schedule have been established on the dates indicated in the third column. The standards listed in the fourth column, where applicable, shall remain in force concurrently until withdrawn on the dates indicated in the fifth column.

The Schedule lists 11 standards established on May 26, 2026, as follows:

  1. IS 4289 (Part 1): 2026 – Flexible Cables for Lifts and Other Flexible Connections — Specification, Part 1 Elastomer Insulated Cables (Second Revision). Established May 26, 2026. To be concurrently in force with IS 4289 (Part I) – 1984 – Specification for Flexible Cables for Lifts and Other Flexible Connections, Part 1 Elastomer Insulated Cables (First Revision), until withdrawal on November 26, 2026.
  2. IS 16805: 2026 / IEC 62619: 2022 – Secondary Cells and Batteries Containing Alkaline or Other Non-Acid Electrolytes — Safety Requirements for Secondary Lithium Cells and Batteries, for Use in Industrial Applications (First Revision). Established May 26, 2026. To be concurrently in force with IS 16805 : 2018 / IEC 62619 : 2017 of the same title, until withdrawal on November 26, 2026.
  3. IS 16893 (Part 1): 2026 / IEC 62660-1: 2018 – Secondary Lithium-Ion Cells for the Propulsion of Electric Road Vehicles, Part 1 Performance Testing (First Revision). Established May 26, 2026. To be concurrently in force with IS 16893 (Part 1) : 2018 / IEC 62660-1 : 2010 of the same title, until withdrawal on November 26, 2026.
  4. IS 16893 (Part 2): 2026 / IEC 62660-2: 2018 – Secondary Lithium-Ion Cells for the Propulsion of Electric Road Vehicles, Part 2 Reliability and Abuse Testing (First Revision). Established May 26, 2026. To be concurrently in force with IS 16893 (Part 2) : 2018 / IEC 62660-2 : 2010 of the same title, until withdrawal on November 26, 2026.
  5. IS 16893 (Part 3): 2026 / IEC 62660-3: 2022 – Secondary Lithium-Ion Cells for the Propulsion of Electric Road Vehicles, Part 3 Safety Requirements (First Revision). Established May 26, 2026. To be concurrently in force with IS 16893 (Part 3) : 2018 / IEC 62660-3 : 2016 of the same title, until withdrawal on November 26, 2026.
  6. IS 19775 (Part 1): 2026 / IEC 60952-1: 2013 – Aircraft Batteries, Part 1 General Test Requirements and Performance Levels. Established May 26, 2026. To be concurrently in force with IS 13300 : 1992 – Nickel Cadmium Aircraft Batteries (Aerobatic and Non-Aerobatic) — Specification, until withdrawal on November 26, 2026.
  7. IS 19826: 2026 / ISO/TS 19387: 2025 – Service Excellence — Maturity Model. Established May 26, 2026. No standard listed for withdrawal.
  8. IS 19828: 2026 / ISO/TS 23686: 2022 – Service Excellence — Measuring Service Excellence Performance. Established May 26, 2026. No standard listed for withdrawal.
  9. IS 19829: 2026 / ISO 24808: 2024 – Recreational Diving Services — Requirements for Rebreather Instructor Training. Established May 26, 2026. No standard listed for withdrawal.
  10. IS 19830: 2026 / ISO/PAS 24969: 2025 – Tourism and Related Services — Guidance on a Contingency Plan for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in the Exhibition Industry. Established May 26, 2026. No standard listed for withdrawal.
  11. IS 19831: 2026 / ISO/PAS 20708: 2023 – Recreational Diving Services — Requirements for Artificial Open Water Sites. Established May 26, 2026. No standard listed for withdrawal.
