The Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs) has issued a notification (F. No. 5(3)-B(PD)/2023) regarding the interest rate applicable to deposits under the Special Deposit Scheme for Non-Government Provident, Superannuation and Gratuity Funds, originally announced via Notification No.F.16(1)-PD/75 dated June 30, 1975.
The notification specifies that deposits made under the Scheme shall bear interest at 7.1% (Seven point one percent) for the period from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026. The rate is stated to be in force with effect from October 1, 2026.
This applies to all deposits made under the Special Deposit Scheme for Non-Government Provident, Superannuation and Gratuity Funds during the stated period. Fund managers and trustees maintaining such deposits should apply the 7.1% interest rate for the covered quarter.
